Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club built a batting collection with the great batting of experienced batsman Mohammad Ashraful. But Mahmudullah Riyadh and Muminul Haque’s impeccable fifty helped the Gazi Group cricketers to victory.

Gazi Group cricketers won the eighth match of the Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League by 8 wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday. After losing the toss, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club scored 151 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Gazi Group picked up the victory with 6 balls in hand.

Sheikh Jamal gave a great start to Dhanmondi Club with two openers Mohammad Ashraful and Saikat Ali. The pair came up with 69 runs. Saikat took 33 runs off 30 balls. However, Ashraful’s brilliant innings of 41 runs from 35 balls came from the bat. He made the great innings with 4 sixes.

After the two openers left before the team’s 100 runs, Sheikh Jamal’s innings did not grow big due to the failure of the rest. However, Nasir Hossain’s 20 off 13 balls and Ziaur Rahman’s 21 off 18 balls helped Sheikh Jamal to collect the wickets.

Mukidul Islam and Mahmudullah of Gazi Group took two wickets each with the ball. Besides, Nasum Ahmed, Soumya Sarkar and Ariful Haque took one wicket each.

In reply, Gazi Group lost two openers Shahadat Hossain (13) and Soumya Sarkar (13) for 40 runs. However, Muminul Haque and Mahmudullah pulled the team from there. Muminul left after playing an innings of 54 off 36 balls with six fours, but the captain of the Gazi Group left the field after taking the team to victory. In the end, Mahmudullah remained unbeaten with 72 runs off 51 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club’s Mohammad Enamul took 2 wickets with the ball. The rest of the wicket belongs to Salauddin Shakil. Mahmudullah Riyadh, the captain of Gazi Group Cricketers, was selected as the best of the match. In another match of the day, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club defeated Khelaghor Samaj Kalyan Samiti by 19 runs.
