In such a situation, there was a possibility of rejecting or postponing the league and the BCCI also sealed the decision on Tuesday afternoon.
Before the IPL was postponed, players from five different teams had tested positive. Some of these players were affected before the league, some during the league. The players who were impressed before the start of the league include Nitish Rana of Kolkata Knight Riders, Deodat Padikal of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Akshar Patel of Delhi Capital, Enrich Norkhia, and Daniel Sims of RCB.
In addition, the corona report of four players during the league has come positive. They include KKR’s Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrior. Their corona report came back positive on Monday. That is why the match between Kolkata and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad a day ago had to be postponed.

Earlier, four players, including Delhi Capitals off-spinner Ashwin, had dropped out of the IPL due to Corona. Ashwin decided to leave the league after family members were affected by the corona. Apart from them, three Australian players also returned home two days before the league was postponed. They include Andrew Tie of Rajasthan Royals and Ken Richardson and Adam Zampa of RCB.
